LIVE MUSIC: There are a host of great music venues in the Tampa Bay area. Large venues like the
Ford Amphitheater and the St. Pete Times Forum are near Downtown Tampa. These host large national
touring acts. The Tampa Theater, in downtown Tampa, is an awesome venue that is of medium size and
also hosts big name acts. On the Pinellas Peninsula there is Ruth Eckerd Hall near Clearwater that sold
more tickets than Radio City Music Hall in NYC last year! The acoustics are astounding!
In St. Petersburg there is a lot going on, some would say more than Tampa. The Mahaffey Theater hosts
some wonderful performances. Jannus Landing is an outdoor venue that is a popular spot among
performers who usually play larger halls. The State Theater also plays host to many acts, local and
national. In addition there are many new dance clubs and lounges in downtown St. Pete. Over on the
beaches there are several beach bars that feature live music in a small setting. Ka'Tiki on Sunset Beach
has a Florida Folk Night on Thursdays. This is a lot of fun if you want to hear locals singing about Old
Florida.
I could go on and on!

MUSEUMS: St.  Petersburg is the home of the Dali Museum. If you are a fan of Surrealism you will find the
second largest collection of Salvador Dali's work in the world. The Museum of Modern Art in St. Petersburg has
a very nice collection and a brand new wing that was just completed in April 2008.

PARKS: There are so many parks in the Tampa Bay area that it will be difficult to list them all. Some of the
stand outs are Ft. Desoto, a gorgeous county park which remains in a natural state that is home also to the
2005 #1 Beach. Wheedon Island Wildlife Reserve, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, Sand Key, Shell Key, Egmont Key,
Caladesi Island, Honeymoon Island are other nearby parks that you should research before or upon arrival.

LOCAL EVENTS: There are local publications that list a lot of activities in the area. One in particular is
available free and comes out on Wednesdays. It is called Creative Loafing and lists Music, Events, Dining and
Activity information.

DINING: There are so many restaurants that you will not have any trouble finding something that appeals to
you. Creative Loafing is a good guide for this as is Beach Life, a small paper that mainly deals with things
happening on the beaches.

BEACH BARS: There are a lot of beach bars. Two of my personal favorites for Sunsets are Caddy's on
Sunset Beach and The Undertow on St. Pete Beach. Both of these are right on the water, have good food and
cocktails and a lot of local color !
